October Reflection

This month, my training focus was on static websites. I decided on this topic because it was in line with my current project, as well as with skills I am working on in other classes and that I hope to use in the future to build websites for personal use. To that end, I decided to start with using GitHub pages to build something with HTML. The entirety of the experience was spent trying to relearn HTML, as I have not been familiar with it since high school (though working on the TDPS project gave me bits and pieces to work with). GitHub pages was a robust tool to use, as it gave me a webpage to see what I was doing. In the future, it would be nice to try tools like jekyll and ruby to make local builds of sites, just to use something with more independence from a certain platform.

I hope to continue this topic through November by attempting to structure an actual webpage (at the moment what I have is just some text and color blocks). My focus would be on the design side of web development, and translating those ideas to the final webpage.
